0:03 - 0:17 Stained Glass Character
This character is based off a Tiffany stained glass lamp and is the main character in my current film.
Efficiently rendered stylized glass with multiple detailed textures.
Whole model is a single PxrLayerSurface with UDIM Layout.
Various Primvar switches that blend between iridescence, glass, and diffuse for the more opaque parts of the glass.
Displacement map switch that allows displacement to go inward for some pieces of geometry and outward for other pieces within the same shading group.
Software Used: RenderMan, Maya, Substance Painter, Photoshop Nuke
0:17 - 0:27 Live Action Set Recreation
A digital rendition of a set from Citizen Kane.
Really fun project where I modeled, textured, lit a shot from a classic film noir.
Originally rendered with Arnold but tweeks and Cryptomatte files were rendered with RenderMan.
Software Used: Maya, Photoshop, Arnold, RenderMan, Nuke, Cryptomatte
0:27 - 0:45 OSL Toon Shader
This shader was written for a friend who needed to integrate a 3D model into a 2D animation by matching the art direction of the film.
Compiled in the Windows terminal and registered as a RenderMan plug in.
Evaluates texture color and calculates hue, saturation, and value for the highlights and shadows based on the selected color mode.
Custom color mode will override previous calculations and let the user adjust the highlight and shadow color while preserving the brightness multiplication.
Camera space toon outline with full range of color and width control.
Entire calculation is controlled by the light direction vector which can be animated.
Software Used: Maya, RenderMan, Sublime Text
